The PACT Fall 2019 Classes by Grade Level

PACT Playground (K-2nd Grades)

Playground Class – Monday – 5:00-6:00pm

The PACT Playground Program offers fun and exciting classes for Kids ages 3 through 3rd grade who want to explore, create, and find their inner performer. This is a great place for kids to jump in with both feet and spread their wings in the Arts. It has been proven time and again that the performing arts develop physical skills, cognitive and critical thinking ability, social skills and breeds art and creativity, personal achievement, and self- esteem in the lives of children. Students in this class will prepare a show through the semester and present it on the final day of class to the parents!

Music 101 – Wednesday – 4:30pm-5:30pm

In this class, students will learn basic rhythms, note names, and notation. They will explore dynamic musical changes, notation, and purpose as well as practice sight-reading, sight-singing, and performing music in a group. The student will also analyze the effects of music while performing a character.

PACT Kids (3rd-6th Grades)

Musical Theatre Dance Styles & Voice 101 – Monday – 4:30pm-5:30pm

Designed for the Broadway lover! In this class students will incorporate singing, dancing and acting. Students will learn musical combinations to various Broadway shows (dance, singing & acting) while learning technique in dance, acting, and music.

Acting 101 – Wednesday – 4:30pm-5:30pm

Engage in the art of creative exploration! intro to theatre provides a jumping ground of learning techniques in improv, character development, and movement. Beyond this, students will begin to fine-tune the actors’ intuition, strengthen powers of focus and reaction, analysis, ensemble- building and empathy and more importantly- confidence!

Music 101 – Wednesday – 4:30pm-5:30pm

In this class, students will learn basic rhythms, note names, and notation. They will explore dynamic musical changes, notation, and purpose as well as practice sight-reading, sight-singing, and performing music in a group. The student will also analyze the effects of music while performing a character.

Musical Theatre Dance Styles & Voice 102 – Wednesday – 4:30pm-5:30pm

Designed for the broadway lover! In this class students will incorporate singing, dancing and acting. Students will learn musical combinations to various Broadway shows (dance, singing & acting) while learning technique in dance, acting, and music.

Acting 102 – Thursday – 4:30pm-5:30pm

A taste of more intermediate acting skills, students will incorporate techniques such as Stanislavski, Meisner, and Lughering into forming complete characters in class monologues and scenes, preparing the student for more complex work.

Ballet Styles – Friday – 4:30pm-5:30pm

Dancers in this class will build off of the five positions of ballet while learning to master the skills of this level. dancers will rely heavily on barre work, focusing on technique and body position.

PACT Teens (7th-9th Grades)

Audition Prep – Monday – 4:30pm-5:30pm

This is a practical course which helps the students investigate, select, and prepare audition material appropriate to the individual and the audition call. The course includes exercises in handling “cold” readings and in learning to look at auditions from the casting director’s point of view.

Acting 103 – Tuesday – 4:30pm-5:30pm

Actors at this level will begin to look at the differences between the techniques of Lee Strasberg and Sanford Meisner.  With a heavy emphasis on dialogue, scene work, and improvisation, students will learn the value of using their own memories and emotions, as well as understanding the impact our environments play in creating characters.  This class will require minimal, but frequent memorization of lines and monologues.

In this class students will incorporate singing, dancing and acting. Students will learn musical combinations to various Broadway shows (dance, singing & acting) while learning technique in dance, acting, and music. Students in this class will learn tips and tricks to pick up choreography quickly and how to properly practice choreography. This class is by teachers permission only.

Acting the Song – Tuesday – 5:30pm-6:30pm

Students in this class will be taught a variety of methods to make a song truly come to life. Including scene work with peer-level partners, integrating the technique of emotional memory, and breaking down the lyrical content into monologue form, students will gain the skills necessary to interpret and execute a song to its fullest potential, whether prepping for an audition or preparing for a role. Throughout the semester, students will sing songs of their own choosing, as well as being assigned solos and duets from varying styles and genres of Musical Theatre.

College Prep – Wednesday – 4:30pm-5:30pm

The PACT College Prep Program provides comprehensive, individualized creation and direction of your complete audition development package. The PACT professionals will help you decide which college programs are best for you and guide you through the complicated creation and submission of pre-screen videos, headshot and resume production, audition wardrobe and styling, coaching and interview skills, and selection/coaching of audition material and technique. As well as guiding you through the different auditions held locally at schools and the unified auditions.

The PACT Homeschool Academy

Tuesday – 10:30am-11:30am

The PACT Homeschool Academy offers fun and exciting classes for Kids ages 6 through 12th grade who want to explore, create, and find their inner performer. This is a great place for kids to jump in with both feet and spread their wings in the Arts. It has been proven time and again that the performing arts develop physical skills, cognitive and critical thinking ability, social skills and breeds art and creativity, personal achievement, and self- esteem in the lives of children. Students in this class will prepare a show throughout the semester and present it on the final day of class to the parents!

This class will focus on acting techniques, music skills, and dance skills and getting an overall understanding of the theatrical world by using a Broadway Junior production as a guide.
