The PACT Theatre Co and Spring Hill College Partner Up!

Spring Hill College is excited to announce a new partnership with PACT Theatre Company, who will host classes, productions and much more in the Arlene Mitchell Theater on the historic campus. The collaboration begins April 1.

“We’re excited about this collaboration and hope it will lead to many more opportunities. We’re also looking forward to bringing even more Mobilians to our gorgeous campus,” Provost Rebecca Cantor said.

Founded in 2018, PACT strives to produce unique stories that engage and inspire the Gulf Coast community. Last November, to enhance audience experience, the company took its production of Disney’s “Tarzan: The Musical” outdoors at Langan Park. Over 500 people attended the final showing.

In a Facebook post, PACT shared, “…We cannot wait to begin this partnership with such a historic educational institute here in Mobile, Alabama! We are looking forward to holding our classes, shows, and various programs on the beautiful campus of Spring Hill College for many years to come! Go badgers!”

Many great things are to come from this newly formed relationship between PACT and Spring Hill.

Disney’s Tarzan: The Musical is swinging into Langan Park for the first Theatre Under The Stars!

Mobile, AL, August 8, 2023 – The PACT Theatre Company is pleased to announce a new partnership with The City Of Mobile: Parks and Recreation for the first annual event, Theatre Under The Stars! The inaugural production is none other than Disney’s Tarzan: The Musical, a show that promises to transport audiences to the heart of the jungle. This one-of-a-kind production will be staged outdoors at Langan Park as a community event. This high-energy production is directed and choreographed by the national award-winning creative team Artistic Director Jacob Rowe, with musical direction by Christie Breland.

Based on Disney’s epic animated musical adventure and Edgar Rice Burroughs’s classic story of “Tarzan of the Apes,” Tarzan features heart-pumping music by rock legend Phil Collins and a book by TONY Award-winning playwright David Henry Hwang. High-flying excitement and hits like the Academy Award-winning “You’ll Be in My Heart” as well as “Son of Man” and “Two Worlds” make Tarzan an unforgettable experience at The PACT Theatre Company.

Washed up on the shores of West Africa, an infant boy is taken in and raised by gorillas who name him Tarzan. Apart from striving for acceptance from his ape father, Tarzan’s life is mostly monkey business until a human expedition treks into his tribe’s territory, and he encounters creatures like himself for the first time. Tarzan struggles to navigate a jungle, thick with emotion as he discovers his animal upbringing clashing with his human instincts.

This community event will include food trucks, nonprofit organizations, local vendors, local organizations and fun activities for adults and kids alike! This event will also have the first “Musical Theatre Day,” a one-day event where local school-aged kids will be invited to come out to the park to learn musical theatre skills and a dance number. They will be able to perform it before the show on Saturday night! This Musical Theatre Day will be a free educational event, and we will provide each participant with a free ticket to the show that night!

See Tarzan as never before in a unique outdoor setting! You will be amazed to see Tarzan swinging high above the ground, leaving lasting memories for the whole family. Grab some food from a local food truck, bring a picnic dinner, and enjoy a night of live theatre under the stars!
